Women self‐help groups and intra‐household decision‐making in agriculture

This study examines the effect of women-centric agricultural self-help groups (SHGs) on intra-household decision-making in agriculture. Using data collected from an survey 815 households, we analyze women's membership different types SHGs 14 decisions related to farms and households. Specifically, investigate discord decision-making, which is difference perceived roles spouses within a household. Our results show that participation has increased their role by 8–13%. However, effects vary according type intervention decision. We found fewer discords seed than micro-finance SHGs. In conclusion, our suggests engagement agriculture-based SHG interventions can encourage joint but magnitude this depends SHG. Development agencies use information design targeted at empowering women through improvement value chain.
